Many people mark Thanksgiving as a holiday to get together with their loved ones, eat a magnificent amount of food, and whether they verbalize it or not, give thanks for what they have in their lives. Recently, Love What Matters highlighted a family with a beautiful, heartwarming Thanksgiving tradition.
Every year since 2000, without fail, Deb Mills has had a Thanksgiving gathering with friends and family, and it was in that first year that a tradition was born. Each and every guest would sign the white tablecloth that their food was placed upon that holiday. Each year more names would appear, with different colors representing the corresponding year.
Deb Mills’ caption reads as follows:
“We started this tablecloth in 2000. It has the names of everyone we’ve shared Thanksgiving with each year. Each year is a different color. I am so grateful to have the signatures of those who have left us. . . mom, David’s dad, our daughter Mary. It has scribbles of grands and special messages. Everyone signs it at our Thanksgiving and then I embroider it each year and it is quite a treasure to me. Along the edge is a key of what color goes with what year. Thanksgiving is this weekend at our house so we are ready for a new set of signatures.”
The image has been shared over 19,000 times, with over 49,000 likes. The comments section is flooded with people sharing their own similar traditions.
Let’s always make sure that wonderful traditions like these stay alive.
