Dumbledore Confirmed for ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Sequel
Producers are searching for the new Albus Dumbledore after revealing the beloved Harry Potter character will appear in the Fantastic Beasts sequel.
Author/screenwriter and Potter creator J.K. Rowling recently confirmed reports suggesting the new Eddie Redmayne movie, set decades before the birth of the boy wizard, will be one of five movies.
Now, just days after it was confirmed Johnny Depp would join the franchise, possibly as Gellert Grindelwald, it appears studio chiefs and Rowling are on the hunt for the young Dumbledore, played in the Potter films by the late Richard Harris and Michael Gambon.
At a press conference, Fantastic Beasts director David Yates confirmed Dumbledore would appear in Fantastic Beasts 2, suggesting casting is currently underway.
In the book series, Dumbledore and Grindelwald were sworn enemies in a magical conflict before Harry Potter was born.
