One lovable rescue dog is finally getting a haircut after six long years.
Meet Lazarus, a Great Pyrenees who was in dire need of a haircut. For the past six years Lazarus has “been cooped in a foul, feces-ridden barn stall,” shared My Modern Met. Lazarus’s rescuer, Amanda Brooke Charsha-Lindsey of Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, explained that while the dog didn’t suffer any physical abuse he was a victim of “severe neglect” and could use some love.
The first thing that Charsha-Lindsey did was take Lazarus to the groomer. The groomer, Candice Skelton, was the first to discover the dog with the giant mane. She was able to clean him up and shave about 35 pounds of fur off the dog. After the haircut, the dog was pretty much unrecognizable.
Since being cleaned up, Lazarus has started to adjust socially. The dog is still cautious and nervous around other dogs and people, but “loves the camera,” shared My Modern Met.
“We won’t dwell in the past with him,” Charsha-Lindsey shared on Facebook. “He has too much to look forward to now to stay in the past. We all do.”
Lazarus is currently not adopted and still with the workers at Big Fluffy Dog Rescue. Check out the pictures of his transformation below.
