“Curly Sue” is back! And this time around she’s proving she’s way more than just a child actor.
Former child actress Alisan Porter, best known for her role in Curly Sue, got the ultimate four chair turn in a clip from season 10 of The Voice. The judges were shocked to see who really was behind the voice during her stunning rendition of “Blue Bayou.”
“I was an actress when I was very young. It’s not my passion. This is my passion,” Porter shared, before she clued the judges in on her past.
The 34-year-old, also known for barfing all over Steve Martin in Parenthood, took some time off from show business to start a family. Porter has been with her husband for almost four years now.
While each of the coaches were trying to sway the child actor to join their team, Pharrell Williams asked Porter about her decision to come back and be a singer.
“I was going through a hard time in life, and I actually got sober almost eight years ago,” an emotional Porter shared. “I fell in love and I had children, and that was my goal: to be a good mom. I really feel like the universe just had a plan for me, because you guys turned for me today.”
While the performance is really stunning, you’ll have to wait until Monday to find out who Porter picks. Season 10 of The Voice premiers Monday, Feb. 29 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
