Wildlife is often highly unpredictable, but when a coyote approached a group of golfers on a course in Arizona, the terrified humans weren’t prepared for what happened next.
Ryan Taplin and friends were playing a round at Talking Stick Golf Club in Arizona when they saw a coyote stalking some prey. From Taplin’s account, the prey got away and the coyote noticed the men. Taplin wrote on Facebook, “When he realized we were watching, he came right up to our cart.”
When the coyote approached them, they could see its leg was hurt.
“We noticed his back right leg was super swollen around the knee area, so it looked like it was broken,” Taplin told Inside Edition. “He wasn’t putting any pressure on it. He just looked tired.”
The group of men didn’t know exactly what to do, but poured a cup of water for the coyote and set it down. The wild animal quickly went to the cup to lap up some water, even grabbing the cup in its mouth momentarily.
The men recorded a video of the incident and, as it happens, Taplin is a professional photographer who had his camera handy to capture some incredible images of the coyote up close and personal.
The coyote didn’t stick around long, but Taplin and his friends were amazed at how even a wild animal might instinctively turn to humans when in need.
“It’s crazy how gentle a wild animal can be when in need of help…Poor little guy,” added Taplin.
