Maybe true love does conquer all. That’s the takeaway after a Tennessee couple’s hospital photo has gone viral following a New Year’s miracle.
Arika Stovall and her boyfriend, Hunter Hanks, were driving home after spending New Year’s Eve in Jacksonville, Florida. Hanks was at the wheel, while Stovall slept, when their car veered into a bridge support. They narrowly escaped death.
“I don’t know how we lived through that,” Stovall shared with TV station WTVF.
The two were transported to a Tennessee hospital where they were kept apart while hospital staff assessed their injuries.
A photo posted on Facebook shares the moment the two were finally reunited, both sporting neck braces and big smiles. The touching snap has been shared almost 90,000 times.
“Three seconds. That’s how long we had from the moment we drifted off the road until the truck hit the pillar at 85 mph,” Stovall’s post starts. She then goes on to share how surviving this accident with just minor cuts, scrapes, and some stitches has reaffirmed their faith in God and miracles.
“In three seconds Hunter had to handle a situation that would either kill us immediately or save our lives. He keeps beating himself up for my pain but he saved my life. He keeps saying ‘I should have protected you and I didn’t do that’ but he did exactly what he needed to do to make sure my life didn’t end. The whole baseball player part helped him out…if he can hit a 95mph fastball he can do anything ?. He took care of me. And when we were both lying in our beds in the ER he found a way to come protect my heart and give me a hug. Lord knows I needed that just as much as my safety.”
Everyone, even the big man upstairs, loves a happy ending.
