There have been cases of people searching for the owners of a missing pet, but an international airport in Ireland is taking things to a whole new level this week.
On Sunday, officials at Cork Airport in Cork City, Ireland located a missing pink teddy bear — and they are using social media to find the owner.
“When we found Teddy alone in our boarding gate area, we knew he would be somewhat lonely and it might be a week or so until Teddy’s extended family return from their travels,” wrote Head of Communications at Cork Airport Kevin Cullinane to Your Daily Dish. “Rather than be home alone, Teddy is now part of the Cork Airport Communications Team and is enjoying our award winning customer service while we all await an emotional reunion any day soon.”
Cork Airport shared a photo to their Facebook page of the teddy bear.
“This pink Teddy should have been heading off on a flight earlier today, but got separated from his traveling companions,” the airport wrote on Facebook. “If you are missing Teddy please contact us. Teddy has had his dinner and tea and is relaxing in our lounge at present.”
As of February 8, the Facebook post with the Cork Airport teddy bear received over 800 shares.

On Tuesday, with no owner located, another photo — with a piano — was posted.
“Teddy has decided to entertain staff and passengers while waiting for his rightful little owner to claim him back,” the airport wrote. “Please share and help us in our efforts to reunite Teddy and owner very soon.”
This photo received over 1,200 shares as of press.

Teddy bears, and other stuffed animals, hold a special meaning for children. According to Psychology Today, a teddy bear is considered a transitional object for children as a defense against separation anxiety. And there have even been cases of adults who sleep with stuffed animals.
Hopefully, Cork Airport finds the rightful owner. Either way, this Cork Airport teddy bear is the next big Facebook meme.
