The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards Picks Funniest Animal Photo Of The Year
A gorilla picking his nose, a seal having a good laugh, and a cheetah taking a nosedive are the finalists among the 2015 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.
The obscure photography competition was started as a way to showcase photography techniques, hilarity of animals, and the nature and beauty of the environment. Founder Paul Joynson-Hicks hopes people see the photographs as lighthearted and hilarious.
The top honor this year was awarded to Julian Rad for his photograph of a hamster on the run. The photo titled, “Rush Hour,” was shot in Tanzania, Africa.
Other finalists included one tiny hippo that could not seem to escape the birds on his back and a squirrel that definitely underestimated a jump.
Joynson-Hicks has had previous experience entering wildlife photography competitions and his favorite photos always included the candid, funny pictures. “I often enter wildlife photography competitions but I love seeing the funny pictures. Strangely enough, they are harder to come by than you might think,” Joynson-Hicks shared with My Modern Met.
While this may have been the first year for the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, it will definitely not be the last. Check out some of the hilarious entries below and see the full list of winners here.
