WATCH: Cancer Patient Keeps a Piece of Her Late Husband With Her During Chemo Treatments

When Madeline Smith found out her grandmother was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, she knew exactly what to do to cheer her up. Madeline asked her grandmother, Frances Jones, for a shirt of her grandfather’s, but Jones had no idea why.
Jones’ husband passed away four years ago after suffering from heart failure, and Smith told USA Today that Jones still has not “truly come back from” the loss. With that in mind, Smith knew exactly what her grandmother needed by her side during her chemo treatments.
Smith took one of her grandfather’s old shirts and sewed it into a homemade quilt so her grandmother could have a piece of him with her during her treatments.
“Now he’ll be with you and you can bring it to your chemo treatments, and it’ll be like he’s right there with ya,” Smith said in the video.
Jones was completely overwhelmed by her granddaughter’s gesture and could not stop smiling. Check out the full reaction in the video below.
