If you’re looking for proof of evolution, look no further than the plethora of evolutionary traits within your own body.
The human body is a walking exhibit of evolution by natural selection. The body has many parts that don’t serve a purpose anymore. What they do serve is a map to our genetic past. Goosebumps, tailbones, and tendons in our wrists are first-hand examples of these traits, called “vestigial” characteristics.
These “vestigial” characteristic are basically “evolution’s leftovers,” shared Vox. They serve as reminders of the common lineage human’s share with animals and show the “building blocks of the human body predate our species by hundreds of millions of years.”
“Your body is a temple,” says the narrator in the below video, “but it’s also a museum of natural history. Look closely and you’ll see parts that aren’t there because you need them, but because your animal ancestors did. No longer serving their previous function, but not costly enough to have disappeared, these remnants of our deep history only make sense within the framework of evolution by natural selection.”
According to a Gallup poll on evolution views, “forty-two percent of Americans say that humans were created in their present form within the past 10,000 years — a percentage that hasn’t changed much since 1982,” explained Vox.
