‘Breaking Bad’ Inspired Coffee Shop May Soon Be A Thing In Brooklyn
A young entrepreneur is hoping to brew some excitement with a new coffee shop in New York City’s ever-trendy borough, Brooklyn. We know, you’re thinking, “Oh great, another coffee shop is all we need,” because they are literally everywhere – from Starbucks to Café Grumpy to Stumptown and hundreds more independent cafés. Despite their ubiquity, this latest idea is sure to pique the interest of many a tattooed, gluten-free, caffeinated hipster.
Deniz Kosan has launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring a new café to the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn based on the critically acclaimed AMC show, Breaking Bad.
From the Kickstarter page:
“Inspired by Heisenberg’s respect for chemistry, Walter’s Coffee Roastery is a Breaking Bad inspired coffee lab opening in Brooklyn NYC.”
This will be Kosan’s second attempt to bring Walter’s Coffee Roastery to Brooklyn after an investor pulled out of the initial project several years ago. After that, Kosan took his idea to Istanbul, Turkey to open up a shop there, but now hopes Kickstarter can help him make his Brooklyn dream a reality.
Of course, a Breaking Bad-themed roaster will be complete with all the fixings of a great (they’re all great) episode of the show, from the yellow Hazmat suits, to the gas masks, to the beakers, and even the drugs! (Just kidding, unless you consider caffeine a drug.)
Even if the novelty aspect doesn’t have you kicking in for this project already, coffee lovers should note that, at the end of the day, it’s all about the cup o’ joe.
“We respect coffee and its chemistry. From extraction and brew temperatures to espresso machine pressure and grinder configuration, we have coffee down to a science,” the company said.
The project is currently seeking donations through its Kickstarter page and has amassed more than half of its $55,0000 campaign goal. If you want to donate, head on over to Kickstarter here. As with all Kickstarter campaigns, donations will be rewarded with some cool swag – in this case, some excellent Breaking Bad-styled merchandise.
If this project comes to fruition, there will be a lot of Brooklynites responding, “Walter’s Coffee Roastery,” when someone says, “Say [their] name.”
