The employees of an electronic store in Long Island are putting a holiday twist on a simple act of kindness.
A few employees at a Best Buy in Valley Stream, New York pulled together their money to buy a Wii U gaming console for a customer constantly playing the device in the store. The act of kindness was recorded on camera and has since captured the hearts of over 1.5 million people on YouTube.
Employee Ken Fernandez organized the gift for the boy since he would come into the store and play the game for several hours at a time.
“On behalf of all of us here at Best Buy, we got you a Wii so you don’t have to come here every day and play,” Fernandez says in the video. “For real, it’s just for you. It will be your Christmas present, an early Christmas present. You don’t have to be here, you can go home and play.”
The boy was shocked by the kind gesture and left speechless by the compassionate gift. The employees also made sure to include the Super Smash Bros. game with the $300 gaming system.
“I just saw a bit of myself in him,” store manager Rahiem Storr told New York television station WABC. “Because when I was a kid, I used to also come to a lot of the stores. My mom, she really couldn’t afford some of the stuff herself. If we’re able to give him something, why not?”
