A Los Angeles based artist has reimagined what classic Disney animated movies would look like based on the distinct animation style of director Tim Burton.
The Moscow-born native, Andrew Taruson, has recreated Disney classics like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and Bambi to bring them into Burton’s creepy world. The pictures are very eerie, but surprisingly beautiful.
“I love how Burton’s style looks vintage, chic, and cute all at the same time,” Taruson shared with HelloGiggles. “His work is often marketed as ‘horror’ movies, but at the same time, it’s not a horror…It could be any genre.”
Taruson told Refinery29 he creates the eerie illustrations on paper with pencil and then transfers the images to Photoshop to color them in.
This isn’t the first time Taruson has recreated the Disney classics. He has previously redesigned Disney Princesses as pinup girls.
“My main goal is to make viewers smile, laugh, and have a fun time when they come across my work.” Taruson told HelloGiggles. “It’s meant to be whimsical and playful, so have a look and enjoy!”
And for Taruson’s favorite Disney movie?
“I like them all, especially the old ones, such as Bambi, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White.”
You can check out the rest of Taruson’s work on his personal website and download HD and Photoshop files of the series here.
