Adele’s biggest fan just got the surprise of her life.
The Grammy winning artist surprised a terminally ill fan with an impromptu visit during a break from her world tour for her hit album, 25. Rebecca Gibney, Adele’s superfan, has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and is blind. She was recently bed ridden and told that she has only six months left to live.
Gibney’s mother, Tracey, shared with Today that whenever the 12-year old hears Adele sing, she is instantly “overjoyed.” Gibney listens to Adele all day long.
Gibney’s mother saw an opportunity and hoped Adele would take notice. Gibney’s mother wrote a Change.org petition, hoping the singer would visit or FaceTime her daughter ahead of her concert in Belfast.
“To hear from the artist would be a ‘dream come true,’” Gibney’s mother wrote in the petition.
This past Tuesday afternoon, the family got the surprise of a lifetime. Within an hour of receiving a call from Adele’s assistant, Adele arrived at the Gibney’s home to surprise their sick daughter.
“The manager called and said, ‘Tracy, it’s Adele’s manager. I am getting back to you because Adele has seen … Rebecca’s pictures, and she was very emotional and she wants to come and meet your daughter,'” Tracy to People. “I shouted at the hairdresser, ‘Get this off my head – I need to go.’ I wanted to keep it private.”

Although Gibney is too ill to see Adele live, the singer left a parting gift for her family to see the concert at the SSE Arena.
“It’s amazing. I’ll never forget it,” Tracy shared with BBC News. “And I do know that when Rebecca passes away she did get her dream come true.”
