It’s not every day you get the chance to help someone, but when those opportunities do come around, you should always take them. That’s how Kenyatta Lewis’ 6-year-old daughter ended up making a homeless man’s day.
When the mother and daughter were leaving a store in Norfolk, Virginia, they saw a man crying. According to Lewis’ Facebook post, her daughter asked, “Did you see that man crying? What’s wrong with him?” Lewis replied that she did see him and told her that maybe he was just sad.
The brave girl decided to go over to the man, who she thought may be just hot and thirsty, and said, “Hi sir, be happy it’s a nice day it’s not raining. Are you hot? Why don’t you go home the ground is dirty (sic)?”
The man replied that he was homeless and, according to the post, she got “the saddest face.”
So, she decided to help him. She took out a few dollars from her purse and handed them to him. She gave him her drink as well.
“Please go eat. It would make me happy. I like McDonald’s you should go there,” she said. Lewis also writes that because of her daughter, two other people also came over to give the man money.
Lewis’ daughter proves that kindness is contagious.
“It’s not just a statement saying that the children are our future, it’s a (sic) FACT,” she writes. “That gives me a little more hope for the world.”
It gives us hope, too!
