It’s widely known that former President George H.W. Bush hates broccoli. He famously banned broccoli from Air Force One in 1990 and was quoted by the New York Times as saying, “I do not like broccoli. And I haven’t liked it since I was a little kid and my mother made me eat it. And I’m President of the United States, and I’m not going to eat any more broccoli!”
That is some hate for broccoli.
Now, however, a 5-year-old boy has written to the former world leader seemingly concerned for Bush’s dislike of broccoli.

The boy confesses that he loves broccoli and that it’s good for you – all good points, Cooper – but Bush isn’t buying it.
“Proud of young Cooper’s interest in healthy eating. His declared love of broccoli is genuine, if also unpersuasive,” Bush responded in a tweet this past weekend.
Ouch.
If a 5-year-old’s handwritten letter couldn’t get Bush to eat broccoli, then likely nothing will. However, the man has made it to the ripe age of 92, so he must be doing something right.
