Video footage of the shocking incident, which occurred during the band’s show at London’s Wembley Arena, shows the young musician being engulfed in flames after stepping too close to a flame-throwing device.
He is seen clutching at his burning hair before running to the side of the stage to grab a towel and attempt to extinguish the blaze. The group then left the stage and bandmate Ashton Irwin later returned to tell the audience the rest of the show had been canceled, saying, “Michael has hurt himself so we will not be continuing the show right now. He is OK.”
