After 17 hours of searching through rubble, a young girl was found alive after the massive earthquake that struck central Italy on Wednesday.
Rescue workers were searching below the rubble in the town of Pescara del Tronto, about 100 miles outside of Rome, when they spotted the legs of 10-year-old Giulia. Working carefully, they were able to remove the crumbles of buildings around her and get the girl out early this morning.
“You can hear something under here. Quiet, quiet,” one rescue worker said, according to ABC News. “Come on, Giulia, come on, Giulia.”
The dramatic rescue and reunion was captured on video. It is not known if the girl has any injuries from the earthquake or what her last name is.
A massive 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit central Italy on Wednesday killing at least 247 people. According to Italy’s Civil Protection agency, many will now be left homeless and there are hundreds of people still injured.
